 Post subject: Difference between Preventative and Predictive maintenance

Preventative maintenance is doing things like changing the oil and filters. This ensures that the machine will run with out pre-mature breakdowns and also reduces the breakdowns.
Predictive maintenance takes measurements to "predict" when a breakdown is going to occur. This allows a company to plan the downtime and make repairs before the machine actually breaks down causing a loss in production.
Breakdowns occur but you can plan for them.
